View Full Version : Radius user's file
I can see where to change the radius server configuration by going to hotspot -> hotspot -> radius setup, but I can not find where to edit the radius users.txt or whatever the file is that I can put auth info as shown in the radusers.txt demo on the download page, quick pointer anyone?

Hi!
You must have the Server version and licence installed to be able to set up the radius server. To set it up:
Under Services / Radius Server Setup /
First edit the Client databse (this one tells the radius server what routers and AP etc. that are allowed to use radius authentication to the radius server.
Then edit the User database to add the users you want into the database.
Restart or start the radius server, and now your hotspot settings should be able to talk to the radius server.
All this is to be done AFTER you have put in a secondary harddrive to store the info on, AND run the menu for preparation of the harddrive in the radius menu.
ok I think that sums it up I had the router version, not server. I'll have to get some free radius crap set up.

In firewall enable port 10000 and then point your browser to the unit IP and port 10000 dor a much easier to use database interface.
192.168.1.1:10000 if you have the deafult Ip still set.
that's just for server edition, right?
I got my own radius set up and now i can auth via it using ntradping. However I cant even get my StarOS to even talk to the radius server they are on the same subnet and i have double checked the ip in the radius conf in staros, suggestions?

Hi!
What type of radius server are you using? Some radiuses use the old radius port of 1645 and i would guess that your radius settings in the Star-OS is pointing to the new radius port of 1812.
Also the IP adress of the Star-OS and a password must be in the clients file of the radius server. Make sure the password in the clients file match the one that your Star-OS is using to communicate with the radius server.
Best Regards

i got it going i had a null radius secret that was causing problems

robok, by default, all ports are allowed, so you do not need to specifically allow port 1000. However, I believe this feature is only available in the server edition of StarOS. If you have the router edition, it will not be available.

It is in the Server only and since it uses disk writing that is disabled in demo mode, where things get activated but not saved to disk.
You must register to get radius, squid and dns.
