hello,

has anyone tried 1-2 mile 5.8GHz shot with regular Windows 2000/XP drivers on Windows 2000/XP platform? Does it work? Isn't there somehow relaxed ack timing that would allow the connection work properly?

bye, mp3turbo.

PS: Kinda' weird question here... sorry.

PS2 : My bad, I meant 5.x GHz link. I know that 2.4GHz links are working without hassles, I use it everyday :)

The timing issue is only affecting connections that try and exceed the 12 mile distance. We use standard Windows clients for our users and no trouble to about 8 miles with a big enough antenna.

hi lonnie,

sorry, bad question : what about 5.x GHz links with standard windows drivers? Are there any ACK issues, what distance is achievable without any tweaks? Anyone tried that?

bye, mp3turbo.

Sorry but I have no idea. We are only doing p2p between our boxes. It would be an interesting thing to know, so if anybody has any distance info from Windows clients to an AP, please report back.
