I have a large number of senao cards in the field. I just had my first problem with one. The one on my own house appears to have gotten zapped, it's signals both in and out were down by 10db for no good reason. I figure it got zapped because I didn't use any lightning protection.

The zap came over the ethernet, I did loose one pair of the ethernet cable at the same time. So to have prevented it I would have had to protect the ethernet.

Most lightning damage is indirect, coming through the ground and signal lines rather than the antenna.

I'm just trying to figure out how it fried the ethernet cable and the radio without burning up the soekris board. I'm guessing the radio had the shortest arc-to-ground distance, so that is where the energy was shunted to ground. The radio ground and the building ground are 6 feet apart, if they were bonded together, this probably would bnot have happened... If they were farther apart it would have been much worse.
