Our entire network is still bridged... we're moving to routed, but if you've ever had to do the bridging to routing switch you know how much trouble it is.
Anyway... let's see if this diagram comes across in the message. We've got a /24 and the number in the parens is the last octet of the IP address. Hyphen (-) = wire, tilde (~) = wireless
NOC(1)---AP1000(31) ~ ~ StarOS(60)---StarOS(61) ~~ client(43)
From outside the network, all devices are pingable except (60) and (61). From inside the network, all devices are pingable including (60) and (61). I know that the are up, because (43) is pingable and reachable from inside or outside the /24.
Any clues for the clueless?
Thanks,
~joe
I would assime that 60 is an Infrastructure unit, and 61 is an AP?
To ping 60 and 61, try clearing the ARP cache on your NOC. The setup looks correct. Is your client able to access the Internet?

Yup, 60 is infrastructure and 61 is AP. Client at 43 is on the net just fine. Other clients associated with AP31 are on the net too.
I'll try rebooting the router.

getting closer but I'm once again confused about default route.
On both starOS devices, I put the IP address on the wireless port. the ethernet and wireless ports are bridged, of course. the first thing that I notice is that when I put the default gateway into [61], the AP, it shows the default gateway as being on wlan. Well... that's a problem since the path to the gw is out the ethernet to [60] and over [60]'s the wireless interface.
I got back in to [61] (the AP) and moved the IP from the wlan to the ethernet and now i've locked myself out.
Can I get a sanity check on what I have to do in the a.m. after restoreing factory defaults?
thanks,
~joe
On a bridged device, always put the default gateway to the first non-bridged router on your downstream network, which would be '1' in this case. Your customers should also be pointing to this IP as their default gateway.

On the AP which is #61, I put the ip address on the wireless interface. I set the gw to #1. But then it think the gw is on the wlan when in reality the path is via the ethernet interface. Do i need to put the ip address on the ethernet addres or does it matter? i seem to remember that it doesn't matter which interface gets the ip address.
This does not matter which device it says is the default GW if the unit is bridged.
Thanks!
