Folks,

We ve just upgraded to v1.13.3b9 (we need atheros support) and now our 2.4Ghz cards is no longer showing up ! If we take the Hermes card out and put a Ruby in -- voila -- it works...

Any clues?

Angilberto.

Is this one of the new Hermes? Did it work in a previous release?

We have heard that Proxim has a "new" Hermes and it is not compatible. We have not yet had any shipped to us, so we are unable to check into them.

Yesterday I put a Snooze special on the PCMCIA and Orinoco Ruby cards combo. A ten pack includes Nine Router Licenses and One Server License for $950. I think it represent a good value, especially since the new Orinoco are not usable.

I have no idea if its new or not -- I am so f... tired of all this crap.. --
Thats the info on the back of the card:

Orinoco Gold (128RC4)
FCC-ID: IMRWLPCE24h

Any ideias?

Angilberto.

From the info you gave me this seems to be the old Hermes chipset and is the same as some of our original Avaya cards.

Can you get us an IP and username so we can login and see what the card says?

From what we know, if this is the old card style we have support for it which is why I would be curious to see what it announces itself as to the system.

hmmmm I was going to put a AG520 card in the last available slot up on a active AP tonight... to begin outdoor testing. If it indeed effects hermes cards in the same router AP I shouldn't do this. Can anyone confirm? I upgraded the fw on the tower AP to 1.13.3b10 last night, but haven't rebooted it.

Sorry for misleading you -- actualy the card doesnt show up by itself either. In the last batch of cards we received a couple of Gold Orinoco (this one thats causing us problems) and a couple of Ruby cards.

But I should say that this card works on WDISP (A embedded linux distro) for Soekris 4x11 (The hardware platform we used for MikroTik, StarOS and WDISP).

The strange thing is that we have two different types of Orinoco Gold Cards -- one thats on Blue Lable and the other on Purple lable.

FCC-ID: IMRWLPCE24H -- Avaya Silver (World Card) -- GOOD !
FCC-ID: IMRWLPCE24H -- Orinoco Gold (Blue lable) -- DOES NOT WORK!
FCC-ID: IMRWLPCE2411R -- Orinoco Gold (Purple lable) -- GOOD !

How come I have two different cards with the same FCC-ID !?

Angilberto.

I don't know why they would do that. I would be fairly sure they have changed the manufacturer ID and that is what we use to determine the driver to load for the card.

If you can get me that ID from the kernel message log (F9) then we will add it to the list. If you are not sure how to do this, please get the card into a system with a public and send me the IP and password. We can easily login and extract the info.

Thanks,
