First of all, thanks for such a great product. With the "bang for your buck" that you get with StarOS, I can't believe there are any WISPs that are still using APs.

Anyway here's my feature request:

I recently took a look at the release notes of a recent firmware upgrade for the Orinoco APs. It stated that they had changed the way that the AP's RTS/CTS setting worked. Basically, it said that there's no reason for the AP itself to ever do an RTS. So what you do is set the AP's RTS/CTS setting to the value you want your clients to use. In other words, the client gets its RTS/CTS setting from the AP. This explains why Orinoco has removed RTS/CTS settings from their client drivers. Anyway, it would be nice if StarOS could also do this RTS/CTS "hand out" for Orinoco cards. I get tired of having to set the RTS Threshold via the Windows registry...

Thanks!

Craig

Hello,

This feature I believe is already present in our Orinoco AP support. I will have to verify that to be 100% sure however.

Thanks

That is a good idea. It sounds very logical as well, and usable.

Just wondering if you can confirm yet whether this is already present in the Orinoco AP code. Any word yet?

No word yet. I will have to make a point of checking it out tomorrow morning.

Thanks

Yes, this option is enabled.

Yes, this option is enabled.

Sorry to be redundant here, but I just want to make absolutely sure... if I set RTS/CTS in StarOS on a card in AP mode, then any Orinoco clients connecting to the AP will automatically set their RTS/CTS value to what I configured in StarOS, right?

Thanks!

This is dependent on the client, but yes, it should carry over. This feature is beacon-level and designed for Agere cards only, so Intersil or other brand cards will have to set their values manually.

Thanks
