Looks like cisco, now that it owns linksys, released a new WET11 with a hermes chipset inside.

There's no info on their website yet, but at least one consumer already bought one.

Cool... Since it's Hermes, I wonder if it will pick up RTS/CTS settings from the AP, a la Orinoco...

Did you ever get your WET11 back from bluewire? How does the new firmware with RTS/CTS work?

It was good while it lasted.
It had frag and rts threshold settings.
But I just recently mistook it for a stock WET and was feeling daring one evening and loaded CB3 firmware onto it. Now the LAN port doesn't work... :(
I have since lost fascination with RTS/CTS. For a while I thought it might be a problem I was seeing on one of our APs, but that turned out to be something different.
Our busiest AP is a hermes AP with 40 associations... some of those associations are other towers fed off that AP... and typically have 0% loss when pinging any clients associated to that AP. We aren't using RTS on that AP either.

Ouch! I recently flashed a WET11 with Teletronics firmware, and ended up with the same result. Fortunately, I took into account the fact that I might kill the unit, and used a WET11 that for some reason had very low TX power output that made it unusable. So it was no great loss when I turned it into a paperweight.

Just a couple more questions...

1. How much did bluewire charge you to flash the unit?

2. How did you get in touch with bluewire? Their website has no information other than what looks like a mailing list subscription.

Thanks!

Wow, sorry I missed this thread. I had to do some research to contact the bluewire guy. I don't have his email anymore, but I searched for info about bluewire either on google or the isp-wireless list and found the guy. I think it was $25 to flash it.
