I've got a question on how InterBSS relaying works, and whether it works regardless of whether the AP (StarOS) is routing or bridging.
I've got a subnet 10.9.1.0/24. I'm assigning IPs, netmask, etc. via static DHCP. So let's say I've got a customer whose got an address 10.9.1.10/24, and he needs to establish communication to 10.9.1.15/24. Since they're both in the same /24, the two machines won't know that they should use the gateway (StarOS AP) to communicate with each other. Their machines will just try to talk directly, and of course they're not in hearing distance of each other. So how will this work? Does InterBSS relaying notice this, and forward the data along to its intended recipient? Or is InterBSS relaying only active when the AP is bridging?
Back when I used to use my own home-grown linux routers I used to take care of this problem by assigning the customer a /32 netmask via DHCP. It worked quite well. Do I need to continue doing a /32 so the customers can talk to each other, or will InterBSS relay take care of it in a routed environment?
Thanks!
Craig
