Changes between v1.13.3b3 and v1.13.3b4:
Fixed: Fixed TX rate on Atheros cards can be set once again. (used to lock at lowest rate possible regardless of the rate specified)
New: Hotspot whitelist support for clients and servers. (under hotspot menu).
Update: Frequency can now be used in place of channel number on the Atheros configuration dialog.
Update: Wireless frequency is shown on the UI desktop instead of channel.
New: Starutil utility v1.7 for Windows has been released. (other OSs to follow)

To enable Atheros support, you can purchase an Atheros-enabled key from your reseller, or online via www.license-keys.com. All Server keys include the Atheros license. Do not generate a key that is locked to an Atheros card, as the key itself determines if the Atheros support is activated.

Atheros cards tested: D-Link DWL-AB520, DWL-AG520, DWL-G520, Proxim 8482-WD
Cards reported to work: WG311 (802.11G)

Any and all comments are welcome.

great work! My previous speed mismatch problem is gone. I was about to complain that I could only get 10Mb/s through the link, until I realized my cisco switch that runs my entire network is only 10base-t. I didn't think I'd be replacing that for a long while. Guess I was wrong :) Any pointers as to the relation between miles/km and ACK values, or is that just something that will have to be played by ear until more testing is done?

How about Frequency AND Channel on the main page? What channel is 2417 again?

I say channel for 2.4ghz, since that's what we're used to, and frequency for 5.x ghz, because there's a lotta channels in there to confuse, but then again, it wouldn't take much effort to learn the frequencies/channels of 2.4ghz.

Try it out and you'll find you can enter the channel number or the frequency. Is it bad to have that many options?

Options are always nice! I just automatically have it in my head what the relation is on channels 1-11 without thinking about it. With frequencies, its going to be a long time before I stop converting it in my head every time I look at them (frequency = channel what?). Kind of like when they tried to cram metric down our throats. Tell me something is 13mm long and I'm thinking "ok 13 x .03937 = what?"

The ack timing is something you have to play with like you mentioned. The range is normally from 1 to 500. Higher the number, the further the link can go. There is no guideline as to what numbers represent which distance yet, however we are always looking for feedback so we can create a reference for others to go by.

Thanks!

The frequencies are now shown because some of the 5.x channels can dip down in the 1-11 channel range which can become confusing to some. Perhaps we can see about showing channels for 2.4Ghz range 1-14, and frequency for nonstandard 2.3-2.6, and all 5.x ranges.

Are you saying you cannot boot from the primary master with this release? I thought you were having trouble getting the second flash disk to be recognized for storing your radius files.

Does the BIOS recognize the drive and what are the parameters it gives it? Do you have the right BIOS detection?

what i mean is that the second drive used for radius only works when i connect it as secondary master in versions from 1.13.2

when i connect it as a primary slave it will not be detected by star-os, in the bios it is recognized, and in 1.13.1 it is working, but it failed with higher versions.

AT THIS MOMENT IT DOES WORK SO IT IS NOT A HUGE PROBLEM, but maybe something to check in the future (it should be working and it is an bug)

had a 2 mile link with router build 3850 on both ends and wg311's on both ends decide to stop passing traffic today. Signal is ~-72 on both ends, rate set to auto. Ack set to 50. I activated changes on the AP side and the link went back live again. Sorry I don't have any more info, nothing suspcious in the dmesg log.
