yup, tony, I've seen them in windoze drivers and was wondering, why you don't have this feature :)
thank you very much!
It sure does help. There are many more features to be included now that we have the basics complete.
Thanks!

Could someone help please? How should i read this regularity information?
http://www.star-os.nl/screenshot.jpg
It would seem as though you have a card that is not region locked. (RT: ALL_COUNTRIES)
The RD (Regulatory Domain) is 0x30 which is ETSI1 WORLD.
At this point the card is defaulting to US channel lists. If you are not in the US, you can choose a country code from the post above and enter it in the Country Code field. After you activate changes, and go back into the box you'll see that the CC: would have changed, as well as the channel list. (if it differs from the US).
The card you have is a ar5212 b/g card, so it has no 'a' channels available. Scroll through the regulatory information box to see all the channels.
Thanks!

if i change it to NL for the netherlands, it still shows me the information as in the screenshot above. (i have applied changes).
The netherlands may not be part of the regulatory domain the card is set too. What channel list does it show? (from channel 1 to ...).
Thanks!

Ok, it would seem as though the card is already setup for your region so you do not need to set a country code.

does it mean everything is hardcoded?
i cannot change Country TXpower, etc..?
Not everything, only the channels. You can still modify the tx power ack timing, etc.

So does this mean I can boost the power to 250mW on the card, if I want for indoor installs? I saw that you had an override feature for TX power now on the Atheros. Thanks.
Matt
You can only boost it to the maximum the hardware, and region will allow. You can normally gain a little more power out of a stock card.

Just because the power shows up to 30 dB does not mean you can get it. The cards have an upper limit of what they can realistically put out, and that is around 100 mW (or 20 dB) or less depending on the card.

How do we know what TX power each card has?
Do the cards have the information written inside?
- D-Link DWL-G520, AG520 etc?

You don't unless you have a fancy power meter or Spectrum Analyzer.

hey guys,
are there 5212 cards without 11a ?? I've never heard of such.
bye, mp3turbo.
Yes, the 5212 comes with either a/b/g or b/g forms.

The 5212 is the brains and processing and it connects to one or more RF devices.

A special country code of ## is in the latest beta. This provides you with the WHOLE range that the chips are capable of. Be VERY CERTAIN that you are allowed to operate on any frequency that you choose since in most countries you will find that most of the channels available are quite illegal for you to use. That spells trouble for you and also be aware that you could be affecting certain other licensd uses such as navigation radar. Believe me you don't want to be the guy whose wirless LAN affected an airplane guidance system.
It is your TOTAL RESPONSIBILITY to not hurt someone. So, if you are not sure what frequencies you are allowed to use then please set your country code properly. It will be a whole lot less trouble in the long run.

Is there a list of how much power each channel is allowed ?
I'm wondering where to find the list of channels - power so that I can choose the appropriate channel for my short and long distance shots in the entire 5 gig band.
Thanks
George
The list of channels and how much power you can send out would be stated by your local/country regulation authority, in Norway it would be the post/tele regulation, they control everything that has to do with radio frequencies.
Norway has the following (most of europe has more or less the same): Sorry for typos, this was fast translated

I'm reviving this old thread to ask about the ## country code. What is the maximum frequency the CM9's will work to? I can't find the specs any longer and the sales page says " the new 802.11a (4.9 - 6.1 Ghz)". In Canada the licenced range goes up to 6425 Mhz, so I was looking for the exact frequency the card is capable of.

4.9 - 6.1 Ghz

so it's 4900 MHz - 6100 MHz
My StarV3 1.0.3 system with an interface set to ## with 1x cloaking has a channel list from 4920 to 5320, then 5500 to 5700, 5745 - 5825, 5860 - 6100 all in 20MHz increments. Radio is a CM9.
