Is there a way to setup more than one SSID for each router?

I know the Cisco's do and there are a couple of others like the Orinoco's.

We would like to seperate each SSID into its own realm, if the use is associated via the SSID: FREE then they have restricted access to the loacl network, if they are associated to the SSID: FULLNOISE then they can get full access.

I know we can do this using the Radius and Login's but we need to actually broadvase the SSIDS as each one will be used to identifiy the seperated networks how ever will be on the same box.

Hope im making sense :)

The ORiNOCO cards (Herems and Ruby) as well as Prism 2.x cards are not capable of multiple SSIDs while acting as an AP.

Atheros cards are capable of multiple SSIDs (no real limit), however it's all done via software and would take a large amount of work to achieve. Once the driver is feature complete, we may investigate this possibility.

Thanks!

I would really like to see this feature added when you guys get the rest of the stuff done.
I can see that it would be beneficial to my subs in a roaming enviornment and so that I can collapse a couple of ap sectors into one without doing truck rolls to each subs.
It would also be one more PLUS for Star-Os to do this, while others don't.

The Orinoco unit i have here is an AP-2500 and takes a stock AGERE type card. this handles multiple SSID's so im guessing that it is a software/firmware thing.

The only reason i ask is that i have a client currently looking at about 60 units ASAP and apparently they are having supply issues with the orinoco gear so could bge the ideal time to convert them :)

I woulder if there is not a way for setup some kind of virtual wifi device as an alternaive.

We had an AP-2500 about 6 months ago -- however, the thing was slow as a snail -- the web based configuration just *crawled*. Did you experience the same things, or did we have a defective unit?

Merlin,

The one we have seems to be prety fast, have not had any problems with it. but then im not sure that we are really pushing it that hard.
