Changes between v1.13.2b9 and v1.13.2b10:
Fixed: Atheros 'auto rate' problem has been resolved.

To enable Atheros support, you can purchase an Atheros-enabled key from your reseller, or online via www.license-keys.com. All Server keys include the Atheros license. Do not generate a key that is locked to an Atheros card, as the key itself determines if the Atheros support is activated.

Atheros cards tested: D-Link DWL-AB520, DWL-AG520, DWL-G520.
Cards reported to work: WG311 (802.11G)

OEM specific releases are available.

NOTE: It has been reported that Agere (Hermes / Ruby) WDS does not function as expected since v1.13.2b7. This is being investigated.

Any and all comments are welcome.

I have tried this version, and earlier versions, for the Routerboard to no avail. It gets to the Loading OS line and hangs. I have 64Mb or RAM and CF in a 230. I have tried it in two different boards and with and without Prism cards. Any ideas on what to try?

The routerboards are fully supported, however you must use their later BIOS revisions or it will not boot.

Thanks!

Also.. make sure you give it some time and see if it continues to boot (wait ~2 minutes or so).

Thanks!

Yes, I have noticed on these later versions, there is about a 90 sec delay between it "booting IDE" and it actually starting to load. The WRAP board has this delay also.

That will get fixed and also we have BIOS source code for the WRAP board so we will be able to optimize some things for it. Should make a nice system if we can fine tune some things.

I replaced a prism 2.5 card in one of my links with one of these netgear wg311(ar5212) cards. Other end of link is a ruby card in AP mode. Distance is 2 miles, signal is better than -65. throughput with prism card is > 500KB/s, when I replaced with the ar5212, the throughput dropped to below 100KB/s. This is on an intel SE440BX2 motherboard with a celeron 400mhz processor. Tried setting ar5212 to 11b, fixed 11mbps and auto speeds.

This is in the same box as 2 amped sectors, maybe the atheros card isn't very good at filtering/ignoring off-channel noise?

I have seen a few references to "WRAP Router".
Anyone got a url for them, I can't seem to find them in "Google"

That's funny. I entered WRAP Router in Google and this link was the first one in the list http://www.pcengines.ch/wrap.htm

I guess we do not want to try and get in ahead of the developer. :D

Well so far in our ATX-733 box, Star-os won't boot with the card installed. It is a card is a "g" not "abg". Also tried installing on an older intel p2 533 machine but all I get when trying to boot from the ISO build is a bunch of lines with 9999999999999. This with or without the Netgear card installed.

Anyone know if the ATX-733 supports PCI 2.2? The specs are gone from the Star-OS Hardware secton, for that matter the boards are gone.

The ATX-733 is fully supported by all the Atheros cards we've tried. If you are receiving 99999 errors, this means the flash is either bad (unlikely), or the boot failed due to a HDD parameter miss-match during the previous install. Make sure the BIOS is configured correctly (clear CMOS will help) - disabling USB along the way.

Thanks!

Update

On the ATX 733 box, if the Netgear WG311 is installed the machine will not startup (Black screen), not even the bios loading.

It would appear that the ISO images for StarOS v1.13.2b10-3778 both Server and Router are defective. Machine (P2 550)will not boot off of CD regardless of BIOS settings, reformatiing HD ETC. All I get with the cd is the 999999's I mentioned previously. Yet i can install and boot from a 1.12 ISO image and FreeBSD ISO disk. The same holds true for StarOS v1.13.2.b9 Router ISO image. Gave up downloading and burning disks at that point.

Also tried updating the firmware with the 1.12 build but because this dev box isn't licensed, I couldnt upload the StarOS v1.13.2b10-3778 bin either.

Enough for one day, maybe we'll see a new build soon

We just verified the ISO images as posted on our BETA forums, and they are correct. I would recommend burning them at a low speed as some CD-Rom players may have dificulty booting off them otherwise.

There is a new release (v1.13.2, build 3790) which was just released yesterday, and is available on our main website (www.star-os.com).

The cards we have successfuly used in the ATX-733 include the DWL-G520, DWL-AG520 and DWL-AB520.

Thanks!

Maybe also good idea to put MD5 checksums?
By this possible to verify downloaded images (80% problems in corrupted images), and also in Linux possible to verify validity of written image...

The firmware as written by the upgrade, or ISO installer are all MD5 and CRC32 checked before, and after it is written.

I think what he's asking for is MD5 checksums to be posted with the downloads on the site so that people can verify they downloaded the files error free

This is something we can look into.

Thanks!
