"New: eeZee client support - Allow clients with any network configuration access to your network. (configurable per-interface w/ DHCP passthrough) BETA "
I guess I just don't get this one. Could you please elaborate?
"New: DHCP auto-auth server - Allow DHCP users to retrieve IP information from radius server, and automatically start Hotspot session bypassing the login page. (configurable per-interface) BETA "
I guess this means that if the users MAC is in the Radius database the don't have to be bothered with logging in on their own. Is this correct?
Has the feature to bypass Hotspot login if they have logged in via PPTP been implemented in this release.
Sorry for the barrage of questions, but you have almost added every service I provide with external machines to StarOS. That means I can soon free up a great many machines for other jobs and lighten my administrative headaches in one swing. Thanks!
What eeZee client support does, is allow clients access to your network even if their computers are not configured for your system.
For example, if a user tries to access the Internet while using IP address 1.2.3.4, subnet 255.0.0.0, and gateway of 5.6.7.8 it will work without problems. You can enable this option under the Interfaces menu.
You are correct about the auto-auth feature.
The PPP bypass feature is scheduled for 1.12.7 release as it is part of a larger hotspot enhancement which is almost complete.
Btw, this is version 1.12.6 build 3494 and not 1.12.5 build 3460 :)
Thanks!

Well there you go. Appearently my upgrade didn't take, which is why I couldn't find the option.
Heh.

DHCP auto-auth server.
Does the DHCP server automatically now check to see if the mac address is in the Radius Server then??? I guess I am not understanding how this works now...
I am assuming that all IP addresses will be assigned by the Radius Now Correct? And that when users try to authenticate it checks the Radius and automatically logs them in bypassing the radius for Static Users?

Radius can now assign the IP and CBQ. Of course this only happens if the MAC has been authorized.
Try it out and have some fun. I think you will enjoy how everything is now tied together and fed from the radius.

What happens when clients that are using A WET11 are being authenticated???
Since they use TWO ip addresses (One for the WET11, and one for their Router)
The WET11 will be assigned the IP from the Radius (Radius acting like DHCP)
Does the CBQ script still get used as normal for situations like this where an IP address is being used, but it isnt in the radius?

Due to the way the WET11 works, and all other proxy arp based client bridges, we cannot support them with the new Hotspot features. If you want the features at the end of the line, you have to put in a StarOS router so it can see the MAC and IP combined.
Begging, pleading and threatening will not change that. This is like putting in a 3.5 GHz AP and wanting it to also work with 2.4 GHz radios. They will have to be made to work with our stuff, not the other way around.
Sorry.

I would think you would still want a different private sub to run your radios (with fixed ip's) on anyway. How else are you ever going to manage them? I like using mrtg against our SB clients and I don't see how it would be possible with DHCP etc.
Maybe I'm wrong, but if your radios are fixed IP and they mac spoof for whatever is behind it, just use the Radios Mac in Radius and everything should work fine. You still control your client from a central point and you can still manage your radios.
