Hello,
I have hotspot working and am very impressed with the services it could provide but have a possible simple question. I can link to an ap get a dhcp address and be presented with a login page wich will work with a username and pass but I am tring to setup the "autologon" feature using the mac address as the name and pass, here is my rad user info:

#test card
00:02:2D:2B:56:69 Auth-Type := Local,User-Password == "00:02:2D:2B:56:69"
Framed-IP-Address = 172.16.2.199,
MS-Primary-DNS-Server = 172.16.0.1,
MS-Secondary-DNS-Server = 69.61.13.76,
VNC-PPPoE-CBQ-TX = 128000,
VNC-PPPoE-CBQ-RX = 256000k

Thanks
Reed

MAC addresses must be in lower-case for username and password. Once this is corrected, it should work as expected.

Thanks!

Great forward direction !!!! now that it connects I see the ip address that I have framed matches the client but it shows the rx speed @2048 and tx@1024 Kbps and speed tests show full bandwidth getting to this client.. any more easy fixes :lol:

divide your bandwidth numbers you show in the radius by 8 to get the proper speeds.

For instance:
256Kbps = 32000 in radius
128Kbps = 16000 in radius

The RX and TX speeds are numbers, and cannot contain a 'k' at the end.

In your CBQ reports, you should be able to see your first hotspot client at pipe number 8256

Thanks!

Here is a good place for me to ask about this.

My billing system only allows 12 character passwords. So the mac address as a username & password in the format of 00:00:00:00:00:00 will not work. I noticed on the Radius setup the mac addresses as a username & password could be formatted as 000000000000. Can this be done in the hotspot config as well?

We are planning on updating this to make the MAC address that is sent for username and password, configurable much like the Wireless version.

This update never made it into the newly released v1.12.6, however it will be included soon.

Excellent, thanks.

I thought I might have missed something.

Has this been done yet? If so where are the settings in v1.13.2

Darn billing system limitations.

This is not a general release option, however branded OEM customers have the option to choose between 00:a0 or 00a0 MAC formats as an interim solution.

The company bought the software from you directly. So do we have to buy all new copies from an OEM who uses this option or is there something else that can be done?

TIA

I cannot provide OEM releases to specific customers, however if one of them steps forward, you can upgrade to one of their releases while maintaining your existing key.

We will have this as a selectable option in the near future. (there are many hotspot enhancements we have scheduled at the moment).

Tony,

How do we find out as an OEM if this is avalible to us? I would hapilly step up to the plate and pass the solution on if it is going to help.

This is a special-case option that is enabled for OEMs who requested it.

I will see about having this option implemented in time for the next release.
