We were thinking it might be a cool idea to bring our all in one Linux driver to Windows. Is there really a use for an AP on Windows? And would the long distance code be something that people need, or are you all just doing <12 mile shots for multi-point?

Are we wasting time and going crazy?

I would like to see a full windows version, esp. if it could support > 2mbps, but it would most likely be just something to tinker with in AP mode. The only practical use for the windows version would be for the CPE end, that could eliminate another piece of hardware, and in that case the long distance feature would definately be useful.

Any chance of adding support for the WL2000D Card (FCC ID:NZO-ALPHALAN 2000) in the windows utility? Thanks.

Do you have a URL for the manufacturer, and picture of the card? If it works with our driver (try and force it), it should be Ok.

Thanks

Tony,
I thought it was a TT. It works with the TT site survey program that Marlon recommends. I am sure that it is the same program that you guys wrote. The problem is that the software from Marlon's site only works with Win98. Thanks.

Yes, this is the card we developed the driver for. Simply install our drivers on your Win2K/XP box and use the utility that we provided.

Thanks!

Hello, I began using this driver for the WL2000D card, but I cannot get it to work under the Widows XP environment with any sort of 802.11b access point, to connect or hst, either way. I set the ESSID to the one I need it to use, but it cannot connect to my network and obtain an IP.

Is there a way to use this to interface with Windows XP and 802.11b? Thanks.

Welcome to the list!

There are some 802.11b APs that are starting to become incompatible with the original 802.11 cards, and will refuse to let them associate. Unfortunately there is little that can be done in this case other than trying a different Access Point.

What brand of AP are you using?

Thanks!

Hm.. that is unfortunate news, as this is one of the newer Cisco 3000 series AP's. I guess I will have to find an alternative approach to creating a deployable long-range WAP.

While the ORiNOCO / Agere cards are not as high power as the Cisco, we do support the long-range you are looking for, as well as compatibility with 2Mbit cards.

Thank you for the information, I believe I have found a solution in a standard Senao 200mw card, with MCCX jacks. Hopefully this in combination with an omnidirectional antenna will give me the range I need to use this as a relay. Thanks again for the assistance!

A driver/client that provided a optimized connection information, performance reporting, remote configuration, and built-in authentication. I think it would be useful (and lower the cost of management) if all stanalone, single PC customers of a WISP could have the same software regardless of card model (Prism/Orinoco/AmTel) and Windows OS version. The current mix of built-in windows software, card drivers and 3rd party utils seems to me a receipe for sustmomer support difficulties.
