Hello,

We are interested in hearing if anybody has used an Elan adaptor based on the pci1410pge chip (TI 1410) with StarOS.

If you have, please let us know.

Thanks!

We are interested in ANY kind of T1 card that works.
Are there any?

I just got the "Official word from Lonnie".
There is only going to be support for the RICOH cards that he sells.

I have two different types of Lucent cards that use the "TI" chipset you asked about. I have had them in what I thought were working boxes with router FW. Now that I have read several post about anything "TI".
I am doubting my apparent sucuess at saving some money for the sake of reliability and performance.

I really can't expect anyone to support anything that they don't sell.
We are really on our own with other adapter cards other than RICOH..

----------------------
I find it tough to pay $50.00 for an adapter to use a $50.00 Radio card.
For a full MOBO CPE solution.
Add the $150.00 MOBO (DC version) kit , case and POE supply and you are way over the desired cost limit for a CPE with a quick ROI.
But ya got to admitt! You have one heck of a product when you get done.
-------------------
I tried to standardize on LUCENT and PRISM but I might be forced into D LINK WPCI type radios to cut the adapter cost.
Sorry for the "Blathering" but I am looking for answers that don't seem to be withi my grasp. I'll have to revise my quest.!

Full featured
Supported
Low Cost
Available state side. Pick any three!

We swapped out every PCI adapter we were using for Elan PIII's because they were recommended as "the best". I'm pretty sure they are not Ricoh based. Are you saying these aren't going to be supported in V2.x?

Sorry about that.
Maybe I should change my statement to read:

There is only going to be support for the RICOH cards that he sells. (Or whatever they recommend).
Last I knew the P111 was highly recomended butI don't see them on the Star-OS equipment page.

Right now I can't tell a good adapter from a bad adapter
or one that is likely to cause trouble in the future.
I put them on the bench, the program finds them, the radio is loaded.
They pass traffic...Yet I read in the forum and am told that they are junk.
Maybe it is like getting a wife? Some guys (Like me) get the good ones!

All I have to go on is manuf. recommendation.
That will have to do.
------------------------
E Gads! I wish I had a STAR-OS dealer on the East coast that I could plague with these questions.
:D

I'm looking for a T1 (tee-one) card not a TI card!

Are there any T1 cards that work with StarOs?

The orinoco (Texas Instruments chipset) pcmcia to pci adapters are crap! I had many angry customers thanks to them locking up our starOS machines over the past few months. We are almost done swapping them out with ricoh, and belkin plx. The local staples was selling the last ones they had for $8.95 so I bought a bunch of them and they work great.

Slight correction guys -

We will not go out of our way to support the clearout cards that you find on eBay and other places for $5. These cards are a flash in the pan and are being dumped because they are not designed properly.

For sure we will support what we sell, and we have no problem supporting other "GOOD" cards. These you will know by the fact that they have support without having to tweak the PCMCIA drivers to compensate. They just work.

The Elan P111 are excellent, as are the Ricoh based cards we sell. We would sell the Elan but the wholesale price is almost as much as can sell the Ricohs for.

So, if you find some cards for $5 that work perfectly - ecellent purchase and I hope you enjoy it. If they do not work, then remember that fact when you bid on the next "bargain" cards.
