Looks OK from what I see, it looks like the OEM Lucent/agere ones I use now

It is not a PCMCIA adapter. It is a PCI bridge device and makes the card and adapter into a single unit. The card will not be hot swap and it must be inserted at power on.
I am unsure about the chipset (pretty sure we do not support it) so my advice is to get one and try it. Hopefully you can return it if it does not work.
What is the price of the card? Are these guys going to keep working with this chipset? If yes to both, we might be able to write the driver for the adapter.

AH HA, that would why I cannot "play" with cards on my system, they show up as PCMCIA adapters but if I remove and reinstall a card the system goes into a kernel panic :? and I have to reboot for everything to work. The other problem I had was the PCMCIA controllers work in PCI 2.2 slots only, They would show up in star-os but any card I inserted would not work even with a reboot..
