Hi,
I have a demarc 200mw radio (zcomax prism 2.5) in infrastructure mode. The AP is hermes. When I log into the AP, the association looks like this:
[PHILLSphp ] 75:ae:2f - 22.4 17/65 -69/ -32 -86/ -97 11 0s
When I have any other type of card in there, including Senao 200mw, the "-32" number is always much closer or the same as the "-69" number. Firmware on the card is 1.1.1/1.5.6.
Anyways, are all the zcomax card readings like this, or only the demarc? I've tested a couple demarcs and they all show these exagerated client signal. Does the demarc really hear this good?
Anyone else seen this?
Thanks,
Bob C

We have never seen one first hand. What I would have you do is take a unit about 5 miles from an AP and see how they do. At 5 miles they should link in with a 14 dB antenna. If those things are so hot, I would expect 10 miles easy. It would be nice to get areport on the signal at distance and even to see how they stand up to data transfer compared to something less powerful, like the Lucent.

Number don't lie, but they can misinform.

I'm using this one as a backhaul to the lucent amped AP at 8 miles. It's my house, and I regularly change backhaul radios.
But I've used this and other demarc 200mw radios at other towers as well and they always give the exagerated client signal readings. Even when they are in AP mode, they report exagerated signal readings to the client manager. I'm just wondering if the other zcomax cards are like this too? I should pick up one of those $60 SMC 200mw cards and give it a try.
Thanks,
