Ok, so I read the thread about the introduction of a very low power power board that can run the Router version of Star-OS. It has 2 mini-pci slots.
WHERE on earth do you find mini-pci cards? I particularly want and need the long range AP functionality.
You said you supported Agere cards, but where do you find Agere cards? Prism cards don't have all the best features for long distance...???
These should do the trick.

Thanks!

Have you actually USED these?
If so, your opinion would be appreciated.
Thanks
We've used them in passive testing, nothing more. These cards contain an integrated TI1410 cardbus chipset, so they are treated as a pcmcia device with card inserted. We've seen no problems as far as compatibility goes. We've not used them in the field however, though they do support the long distance features.
Note that YDI is probably selling a newer version of the one we have, though we've not heard of any incompatibilities from people using them.

I have used one of the senao minipci cards that I purchased from www.netgate.com. My only complaint was the 6" pigtails are too short. These are 160mw cards.
FYI Many of the current laptops come with wireless networking supplied by minipci cards, so they should become increasingly common.

It looks like all of the minipci cards are using the same hirose pigtail to be compatable with laptops with built-in antennas.
I know of two sources for the hirose pigtails, Demarc has a 12" and netgate has a 6". It is really thin coax, so it is probably quite lossy.

Does that mean they will share an IRQ with a regular pcmcia radio on a Soekris?

We do not have any Soekris boards so we cannot test. Our efforts are going into the WRAP boards.

Hi!
Does Star-OS support the 5354 ARIES MP card (a/b/g) and or the 3054 ARIES MP card (b/g)?? Those seems to be based on the Atheros chipset!
Best Regards

It will soon enough. They're working on the drivers as we speak.

We should support this card, though it is not amongst the ones we test with.
Thanks!
