The inbound traffic accross the star box is being degraded, badly.
500-700kbit loss in speed. Tests show 1200-1400 up, 100kbit to 400kbit
down. remove the box, 1200-1400 on both.

my setup consist of a bridged network clients have public ip's .the router is
used to just control the bandwidth. (T1--staros--cisco ap--clients

What CBQ rules do you have in place?

Also make sure you disable IP Accounting if you are not doing doing collections, as it might have a small impact after a while.

Thanks!

# First thing, we need to set up our ether1 and wlan1 adaptor.
device ether1 bw 100M
device ether2 bw 100M

# For easy reference, lets define two variables, one for each adaptor.
client = ether2
net = ether1

# Lets say, bob has an IP of 1.2.3.4, and you wish to give him
# 256KB download and 56KB upload speeds. (the word 'bob' is simply ignored
qshape 70 bw 512K 256K 209.xxx.xxx on $net
qshape 67 bw 1400K 1400K 209.xxx.xxx on $net
qshape 71 bw 512K 256K 209..xxx.xxx on $net

The qshape's '... on <device>' represents the adaptor your clients are behind. You need to change $net to $client and it should work as expected.

Thanks

the download is still very slow. and changing the setting made no difference! any other ideas what the slow down could be. the system seems to work if their is only one cleint connected.

I wouldn't mind checking out your system. Give me an email and I'll help troubleshoot.

Thanks!
